Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier has hilariously revealed his greatest footballing achievement. The 51-year-old – who spent his entire career with the Saints and made 303 appearances – scored 109 goals for the club while also winning eight caps for England.Despite that excellent goalscoring record and also the fact that he represented his country, Le Tissier has revealed that something else was his greatest footballing achievement in hilarious, and sarcastic, fashion it seems. The ex-Southampton star tweeted that being subbed off in place of George Weah’s cousin was his greatest footballing achievement, of course paying reference to the famous, and almost unbelievable story of when Graeme Souness was duped into playing Ali Dia in a Premier League game against Leeds.
Dia had worked his way into the Southampton team after Souness received a phone call from someone recommending the striker, saying that he had played alongside Weah at Paris Saint-Germain and that he was the cousin of the former Ballon d’Or winner.
Famously, Dia played 53 minutes against Leeds after replacing Le Tissier, and was so bad that he was subbed off again in his one and only appearance for Southampton.
